Como cualquier adentrado en la música surf sabe -o debería saber-, no hay mejor sitio en internet acerca de este género musical que el de Surf Guitar 101. Fundado por amantes de la reverberación y los temas instrumentales, tienen su base de operaciones en California, la tierra donde empezó todo hace poco más de medio siglo, y además de contar con un foro virtual en el que seguidores y músicos se reúnen para platicar acerca de tópicos varios, también realizan una convención anual cada verano, en la que se han presentado agrupaciones de talla internacional. Como complemento, ya es una tradición nacida en el 2005 que a finales de año lanzan una convocatoria en la que cualquier grupo del mundo puede mandar un tema de surf instrumental inédito y bien grabado y ellos los juntan en una compilación digital gratuita. En el caso del 2013, aparecen canciones de The Man From RavCon, The TakeOffs, The Surf Squad, The Royal Aces, The Aquasonics, The Boss Jaguars!, Surf Daddies, Men Of Mystery y The Retronauts, entre otros.

Como ya es una tradición, la página Surf Guitar 101 hizo un recopilatorio a finales del año pasado en el que se reúnen temas que bandas o personas que forman parte de la página, mandaron para compartir con todo el mundo.

La página que tiene su base en California, es el mejor sitio en internet dedicado a la música surf y todo lo relacionado con ella. Aquí se dan cita músicos, disqueras, revistas, estaciones de radio y público en general, todos con un fin común: difundir su amor por el reverb.

Y como ya es una tradición desde el 2005, el año pasado se lanzó la recopilación digital gratuita de la página Surf Guitar 101.

Esta comunidad que empezó como un pequeño lugar en la red para juntar a todos los aficionados de la música surf, con el tiempo se ha convertido en la mayor comunidad digital de todos los seguidores del reverb y la música instrumental.

Noticias, fotos, videos, artículos e información directa de los músicos es un poco de lo que se puede encontrar en la página.

A fin de año, todos los que sean miembros de la página y tengan alguna banda, pueden mandar alguna canción que nunca hayan editado y que esté grabada a una buena calidad de audio, se juntan todos los temas recibidos y así es como surgen las recopilaciones de cada año. No importa si es una banda reconocida o si se trata de alguien que apenas empieza, todos pueden participar y basta ver a los participantes de este año.

Entre los más populares aparecen North Of Malibu, Danny Snyder, PolloGuitar y muchas bandas que son las promesas del mañana.

Y finalmente la que hasta el momento es la más reciente recopilación lanzada por la SurfGuitar 101 el año pasado.
Está plagada de sonidos instrumentales y reverberantes pero también hay sonidos sacados del viejo oeste, música de espías e interesantes experimentos con el surf.
Aparte de temas originales, también aparecen algunas versiones de canciones de Consuelo Velázquez, Roy Orbison, The Aqua Velvets, The Chantays, Jean & Dean, Earle Hagen y hasta una extraña pero agradable versión de "I Want It That Way" de los Back Street Boys.

Recuerden que si tienen alguna banda y quieren participar en la siguiente recopilación de la SG101, pueden consultar los requisitos de la convocatoria.

Incluye 38 temas y hay muchos que destacan, desde el inicial "Us and Them" en donde los Surf Rockets recrean el clásico de Pink Floyd, los de 3rd Wave hace un popurrí de temas de Johnny Cash, el tema de los Munster's a cargo de The Close Outs y también aparecen bandas como The AmpFibians, The Coffin Daggers, The Deadbeats y hasta Danny Snyder, el guitarrista de The TomorrowMen y Meshugga Beach Party.
